The common poker terms is needed to understand the game of poker. It's the words used when playing and discussing the game. Watching a poker game on TV will most likely sound like a completely different language for someone not played before. Fortunately it's pretty easy to learn the common words.

All In - When a player puts all his chips in the pot

Big Blind - A bet made by first player to the left of small blind. This will be the minimum bet

Small Blind - A bet made by first player to the left of dealer. Bet is half the big blind

Call - Player matches a bet in any given round.

Check - If no bet has been made the player can check in order to stay in the hand for free

Fold - When a player decides not to continue the hand and throws his/her cards

Pot - The total number of chips in any given hand
